Meeting expectations in customer service should be the norm. Sadly it's not always the case.
So stories of exceeding expectations, especially when there's no obligation to, deserve extra recognition.

Devon Lifestyle customer, Susan Herman explains:

"Before Christmas I purchased six chairs from Devon Lifestyle to go around a Devon round table I had bought a number of years previously.

The table was stuck in the corner of my garden and when they delivered the chairs the guys very kindly pulled out my table.

That weekend I decided to clean the table. On tipping it over I heard a large crack and to my horror a leg had broken.

No problem I thought - I got out the hammer and nails to fix the problem but unfortunately the leg was totally rotten and the nails did not hold. I rang Devon the following Monday and advised that a tragedy had occurred.

Having finally purchased 6 chairs for my Devon table, the leg of the Devon table was rotten.

They advised no problem as their furniture had a 5 year warranty. Although I was unsure of what year I bought the table I advised I was sure it was older than the warranty and just wondered if they could fix it and I would pay them accordingly.

Elaine arranged for the table to be collected that Friday which it was and then rang me the following Tuesday. (There was also a concern as my table had the old style legs and the new leg system may not fit but they would see what they could do.)

On Tuesday Elaine rang and said that no doubt I would like the table prior to Christmas (now about 10 days away).

The cost of repairing the table would be $250, however, they could not get this done before Christmas. Therefore, they were pleased to offer me a new table (worth around $1200-$1400) for $250.00 (the cost of the repair).

I was thrilled. The table was duly delivered a couple of days before Christmas and now I am the proud owner of a new Devon table and chairs.
