This week's Awesome Service Award winner was nominated by customer Kareen Turner: "We had a hole in our dinghy which needed repairing. I phoned all the dinghy repairers in the Yellow Pages. One company no longer did repairs, another gave me a price and said I would have to leave the dinghy with them for about a week, another gave me a similar price and said it would be two weeks. Both the prices and time scale were not acceptable. Then I phoned Explorer NZ. He could do the repair while I waited and his price was half that of other quotes. He said his factory workers went home about 4.30pm but he would be there since I couldn't get there until after 5pm. When I arrived in his yard with dinghy on trailer, his factory worker was still there and started the job (after a look over the dinghy and advising me of another possible future hole due to deep surface damage). I had to go as my son was due at mountain biking. We unhitched the trailer, and he said he lived about 1km before the mountain biking track so he would bring it on his vehicle to the track for me, which he did. He also fixed the pump without hesitation and at no extra cost. He was a very pleasant man to deal with. I am a very happy customer, and have relayed his excellent service to our boat club as highly recommended."
