"My sister lives in Papakura and was turning 80yrs of age. She asked me to take her to Pukekohe township to look for suitable clothes to wear at her 80th birthday dinner, because she had been unable to find suitable clothing to purchase in her area. It is a real mission for my sister to try on clothes because last year she had a fall injuring her shoulder and needing surgery and the shoulder is still very painful.
We travelled to Pukekohe and visited various shops (most shop assistants gave average service and some were not very helpful) however our last stop was Gables and my sister was served by a lady called Barbara.
She was serving in the shop by herself, yet nothing was too much trouble for her giving absolutely wonderful service to my sister. It was amazing how she managed to help and help my sister try on clothes to find clothes while serving other customers coming in and out of the shop. Barbara (who I had never met before) impressed me greatly.
She is very able in carrying out her job, kind, helpful, understanding of the elderly and extremely patient. I am in my 60's and I think this is the best service I have ever witnessed by a shop worker.
It is wonderful to see that "excellent service" to the elderly is alive and well".
