The first winner of a national MYOB Awesome Service Awards epitomizes the values associated with fantastic customer service, as Aucklander Sandra Moorhead explains:

"I am a Dive Leader originally from the UK but now a proud Kiwi, with 7 years diving experience.   Many of my diving friends from the UK visit me in NZ, and I always take them to dive the Poor Knights Islands.

We usually dive with Dive Tutukaka, but one particular day we had booked with another dive operator, who let us down and cancelled the trip 5 minutes before we were due to set off, leaving us stranded on Tutukaka Wharf with our dive kit and no boat.

So we raced up to Dive Tutukaka to see if they could take us out diving instead.  Their boat was full and about to set off, but Evan made the decision to put another boat on for us at the drop of a hat.  He called an off duty staff member, who got out of bed and joined the crew at a moment's notice, freeing up Evan to skipper another boat just for us.

I was a bit concerned as we hadn't brought any lunch with us, and there's nothing worse than diving hungry.  Evan must have read my mind, as his next action was to ask if we wanted lunch provided, and also enquire as to whether there were any special dietary requirements. Hence in the space of five minutes, he not only organised a dive boat for the five of us, but ensured we would have a comfortable day with all of our needs anticipated and met.

As always at the Poor Knights, the diving was awesome.  The atmosphere on the boat was lovely and relaxed, with Evan helping us to kit up as required, and when we were back on board the boat, offering and making us soups and tea and coffee as required.

As an example of nothing being too much trouble, our boat ran out of Pea and Ham soup, so Evan radio-ed the other Dive Tutukaka boat to see if they had any, launched a tender, and got some more!

It was a spectacular day, entirely down to Evan's good sense and amazing customer service. In my experience, nothing is ever too much trouble for Dive!Tutukaka. They are always awesome, and Evan epitomized this service ethic that day".

Congratulations to Evan Barclay of Dive!Tukukaka: A worthy MYOB Awesome Service Award winner.
