Managing Director of Cambridge Veterinary Services Peter Twine was nominated for the sensitivity and compassion he and his team showed during the loss of a much loved family pet.

Pet owner Mark Boggiss explains:

"Recently we had the inevitable situation of having to put down one of our much loved family cats.

Affectionally known as 'Flea' she had developed health issues which ultimately meant costly treatment or being put to sleep.

Given the prognosis was not good regardless of her having surgery, we made the difficult decision to say farewell to Flea.

This was new ground to me and quite frankly something I didn't think would affect me as much as it did. That is where Cambridge Vet Services came in.

What truly impressed me was the level of professionalism, understanding and thoughtfulness that the team displayed.

Right from the moment of walking through the door with the receptionist taking me straight to a surgical room (rather than having a teary-eyed bloke in the waiting area), through to the vets giving me time for a farewell with Flea, answering questions and giving me the opportunity to leave through a back entrance (yes, to hide those tears again), and then finally them sending a sympathy card to my family letting us know that they understood our loss.

It is all these small things that collectively meant the whole sad process was made less stressful, and showed how they respected our loss and understood what it meant to lose a much loved pet.

So on behalf of my wife Veronica, our children Tim and Emma, and myself I welcome the opportunity to nominate the Cambridge Vet Services team on the great service that they provided."
