Long serving flying instructor Rob Utting of the Airline Flying Club in Ardmore, Auckland was nominated for the dedication and commitment he has shown to students over many years. Chris Dixon explains: "Rob Utting has been flying for forty years, and has a wealth of experience that he really enjoys sharing. He has been my flying instructor for over ten years now, and he has trained me from ab-initio (first lessons) and now I serve as his deputy instructor. With all of Robs many students, he has gone out of his way to see that pilots are trained well above the minimum standards and can pass on their knowledge to others. By going over and above the normal flying syllabus, he trains a pilot who is better prepared to enter the realm of commercial aviation or remain as a recreational pilot - and Rob gives the same attention to detail to both recreational and professional students. Throughout all of my dealings with Rob, he has maintained his professional standards of flying and instructing - even when this means that his students overtake him and climb the qualification ladder. He has had to overcome medical issues including colour deficiency and hearing loss, but that hasn't stopped him giving 100%. I think that Rob is an inspiration to students, pilots and instructors, and that his awesome service should be suitably recognised." Congratulations to Rob Utting; a worthy winner of an MYOB Awesome Service Award. www.airlineflyingclub.org.nz | ||
