Managing director of boat sales and service company, Turangi and Lake Taupo Marine, Maurice Heappey has won an MYOB Awesome Service Award after being nominated by a Fielding customer who was delighted by the service Maurice gave him when he needed urgent repairs to his boat. Chris Mooyman explains: "On a recent Lions Club fishing competition weekend to Taupo I arrived at the lake late in the afternoon on Thursday, boat in the water motor going only to find the steering cable had snapped. That's the weekend shot I thought, boat on trailer and headed to Turangi Marine in hope a miracle, I arrived there just before 5 o clock ,they were just sitting down to a well earned beer -not good I thought. They put down their beers to check the damaged ,then without ever having met the guy before the boss offered to have some dinner and do the repair that night, be ready at 8 the next morning he said! Next morning we were back at the shop at 8 sure enough he had worked late into the night to repair the steering just so I could go fishing-legendary, Pay your bill I said? -no get fishing he said, come and pay later after your morning fish. From a firm I'd never dealt with before I think this was awesome. To make it even better I caught a fish and won the competition!"
