The operators of the MYOB Awesome Service Awards wish to highlight that this week's winner -- the first of 2010 -- was nominated in November last year by Aucklander Gillian Bannan. Gillian was herself the recipient of an award for service in the New Year, becoming a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for Services to Golf. Gillian became New Zealand's first female professional golfer in 1975 and is the first (and thus far only) woman to be awarded life membership of the New Zealand Professional Golf Association (2006).

Here is what Gillian said in nomination of Jason:

"I own a large fibreglass golf ball-shaped trailer which I use to store equipment and tow around to schools to teach children about golf and how to play it. The trailer is now ten years old and over the course of time the oval shaped door had become difficult to operate, if not a safety hazard. Last year to my surprise when teaching young girls at Maungakiekie Golf Club one of their Dad's noticed the door was causing me problems and offered to fix it. I duly delivered the trailer to Jason at Woolf' Mufflers in Mount Eden and he went out of his way to fix the unit over the next 10 days, travelling to the North Shore to get parts for the unusually shaped door, and thinking about how it could be made easy for me to open and close it (the opening is in a round ball shape and the door fitting is just one big nightmare to fit!). When finished the door was easy for me to operate with air stays that have solved all my problems. Jason's charges were very reasonable and  nothing was a problem for Jason. He was obliging, friendly and just could not do enough to help me. Thankyou for the service."

Congratulations to Jason Barnes of Woolf Mufflers: a worthy winner of an MYOB Awesome Service Award.
